Against the backdrop of a changing society, the role of teachers in educational institutions, including higher education, is changing, too. This includes increasing instructional and methodical standards to address diverse learning needs, the use of Digital Media for instruction, and more responsibility for institutional and organizational development. As a consequence, empirical evidence is needed for competence development of agents in educational institutions. The research are of professional development was created to address the conditions for and the effects of professional development of teachers in all areas of education.
